The classroom Easter Egg Hunt is always a little tricky. Our warm climate means any chocolate we put in those eggs will melt, we have to be careful about nuts because some of the little ones have allergies, and oh my it’s hard to find candy that doesn’t present a choking hazard.

So, I did a little sewing instead.

{you saw that coming, right?}

These make great candy alternatives for filling those plastic Easter eggs. Each is about 2.25 inches tall by 1.25 inches wide and fits perfectly into a standard egg. Just a little felt, some blanket embroidery stitches around the edges, some light stuffing, and a sewn on felt beak. I used a fine sharpie to draw the eyes, and they were ready to go!

They were very popular with the toddler crowd!
